Baked Caramel French Toast

Cook Time: 45 minutes
Serves: 8

French Toast


14 slices of French bread, about 1-inch thick
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
Fresh fruit (optional)


  1. Over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil and cook for 2- 3 minutes until the caramel comes together. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch x 11-inch glass or ceramic dish.
  2. Layer the bread slices over the caramel mixture.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix eggs, milk and vanilla. Pour over the bread. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon and cover with plastic wrap.
  4. Refrigerate overnight.
  5. In the morning, uncover and bake in a GE Cafe™ Series 30″ Built-In French-Door Single Convection Wall Oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  6. Serve with fresh fruit.
